Frequently Asked Questions

Do you file bankruptcy cases?

No. Ascend Financial does not file bankruptcy cases and does not provide legal advice. Bankruptcy filings must be completed by a qualified bankruptcy attorney. Our role is to help organize financial records so they are easier to review.

What if I don't know what bankruptcy option (Cpt 7, 11 or 13) yet?

That’s completely normal. Many clients are unsure whether Chapter 7, Chapter 13, or another option might apply to their situation. Our service focuses on organizing your financial information so your attorney can evaluate the best legal path forward.

What is Ascend's process?

Ascend Financial’s preparation process is designed to be simple and efficient. Most of the work is completed by carefully reviewing and organizing the financial information you provide.

After booking your session, you will receive instructions for securely uploading your financial documents. These may include bank statements, loan balances, and other financial records.

From there, Ascend reviews and organizes your financial data to prepare a clear financial summary and supporting documentation.

Because the work is based primarily on the records you provide, the process typically requires very little back-and-forth communication.

You provide the financial data, and Ascend handles the organization and analysis.

If clarification is needed, we will reach out with specific questions, but most clients are able to complete the process with minimal disruption to their schedules.

Most clients complete the entire preparation process with only one short introductory conversation.

What documents will you ask me for?

Common documents include:

• bank statements (12–24 months)
• credit card statements
• loan balances
• income records
• tax returns
• asset information

After booking, you will receive guidance on what documents may be helpful to gather.

What are the next steps?

After scheduling your 30 minute introductory call:

  1. You will receive instructions for making payment and securely uploading documents.

  2. Ascend reviews and organizes your financial records.

  3. A financial summary and documentation packet is prepared.

  4. You can provide the organized information to your attorney.

What do you charge?

Pricing depends on the complexity of your financial records.

Typical ranges:

• Chapter 7 preparation — starting at $750
• Chapter 13 preparation — starting at $1,250
• Chapter 11 / Subchapter V preparation — starting at $2,500

Most clients invest between $1,250 and $2,500.

Can I do this even if I'm not filing bankruptcy?

Yes. Some clients use this service simply to understand their financial situation. Organizing your finances can help clarify options and support better financial decision-making.

Is my data secure?

Yes. Client financial information is handled confidentially and shared only as directed by the client.

Do you work with attorneys?

Yes. With your permission, organized financial information can be shared with your attorney to support the legal review process.

Bankruptcy Prep Tips

Get Ready to File

If you’re considering bankruptcy, one of the most overwhelming steps is gathering and organizing your financial information. Before meeting with a bankruptcy attorney, it can be helpful to have a clear understanding of your financial records, including your income, debts, assets, and recent financial transactions.

This page outlines the basic information most attorneys and trustees will need to review.

Gather Your Docs

Most bankruptcy filings require documentation such as:

• Bank statements (last 12–24 months)
• Credit card statements
• Loan balances
• Income records
• Tax returns
• Lists of assets and property

Explain Your Transactions

Certain financial transactions may require additional documentation or explanation during the bankruptcy process.

Examples may include:

• asset sales
• vehicle transfers
• financial gifts to family members
• large deposits or withdrawals
• transfers between accounts

Why Organize Finances

Attorneys and trustees often need to review financial records carefully in order to understand your financial situation.

Organized financial records can help:
